Miriam Lea is a captivating vocal talent who touches her listeners’ hearts with songs of love, life, and light. She spent her early years honing her craft on stages in her native home of the Bahamas and since relocating to Oakville, Ontario, Canada, she continues amazing, uplifting, and inspiring audiences wherever she performs. Now, with the release of her most compelling music to date, she is on the brink of a major international breakthrough.

Miriam grew up in a musical family. She fell in love with singing while performing in church and community choirs as a child, before eventually immersing herself in the classic sounds of the likes of Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, and Sarah Vaughn. This intuitive blend of gospel, pop, and soul would later come to define her sound.

With the goal of bringing her career to new heights, with faith in herself and the quality of her artistic work, Miriam applied for and was awarded a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. This allowed her to devote herself to her music. She built up an impressive catalog of songs, ranging from intimate piano ballads to fully orchestrated works, each one revealing a different side of her ever-evolving artistry.

While Miriam’s career is centered around writing and performing her soul-stirring songs, her ambitions are not strictly confined to the stage. She has worked extensively in the entrepreneurial side of the music industry, notably first completing the Humber Music Business program and launching her arts management business, Prospect Ridge Entertainment. She also serves on volunteer boards for several arts organizations including the Etobicoke Jazz Festival, Unplugged North, and Oakville Choral Society just to name a few. Her goal is to continue building her audience while acting as a role model for a new generation of musicians.
